Year 5 Swimming

Year 5

 3 week Swimming Course

As part of your child’s PE lessons next term all year 5 children will be attending a 3 week intensive swimming course on Tuesday mornings commencing 24th March to 21st April 2020 from 10.00am to 12.00pm at Ashby School Swimming Pool. Children will be in the pool for a full two hour session. To ensure that we can continue to fund swimming a total contribution of £22.40 is required.

Your child will need a swimming costume/trunks, a swimming hat, towel and suitable bag.  Hats can be purchased from the school office for £1.00.  A qualified lifeguard & swimming instructor is provided and the children will be in small groups.

Swimming, often causes confusion as to the do’s and don’ts.  In order to reduce this confusion please bear in mind the following points:

  • We expect every child to take part in swimming lessons.
  • Every child will go to the pool.  If your child is unwell and attending school they will be expected to take part in the lesson unless there are exceptional circumstances.
  • If your child forgets their swimming kit they will still go to the swimming pool to watch the lesson.
  • If your child has a verrucae, we would ask that you purchase a suitable rubber sock until the infected area clears up.  There is no need for your child to stop swimming.
  • If you wish your child to wear swimming goggles you will need to sign a permission form which is attached with this email. Hard copies are also available from the school office.

Your co-operation in these matters will be greatly appreciated.
