Curriculum Swimming Lessons For Year 4

In the summer term all year 4 children will be attending swimming lessons. There will be 10 weeks of swimming lessons on Wednesday afternoons starting from 30^th April to 2nd July 2025. We will be leaving school at 12:45pm for our lesson to start at 1:15pm at Ibstock Swimming Pool. Your child will not miss lesson time as this will be in place of one P.E. lesson.

The school will be subsidsing the cost of the pool hire and instructors (£1656) but to ensure that we can continue to deliver swimming lessons there is a cost of £3.75 per lesson required to cover transportation costs. This is payable via our Arbor app and can be made in instalments before Friday 25^th April 2025.

Your child will need a swimming costume/trunks, a swimming hat, towel and suitable bag.  Hats can be purchased from the school office for £1.50. Qualified lifeguards & swimming instructors are provided and the children will be in small groups.      

Swimming, often causes confusion as to the do’s and don’ts. In order to reduce this confusion please bear in mind the following points:

• Every selected child will go to the pool.  If your child is unwell and attending school they will be expected to take part in the lesson unless there are exceptional circumstances.

• If your child forgets their swimming kit they will still go to the swimming pool to watch the lesson.

• If your child has a verrucae, we would ask that you purchase a suitable rubber sock until the infected area clears up.  There is no need for your child to stop swimming.

• If you wish your child to wear swimming goggles you will need to sign a permission form which is attached with this email. Hard copies are also available from the school office.

• Earrings MUST be removed for swimming lessons. If ears are newly pierced and earrings cannot be removed, children cannot take part in lessons.
