EYFS and KS1 Colour Dash

Ellistown Primary School Colour Dash

Dear Parents / Carers

We are pleased to advise that we will soon be taking part in a sponsored Colour Dash in support of LCH Charity – Lifting Children’s Hopes. This is a charity we work in partnership with, and one from which we receive support for our children.

LCH helps disadvantaged youngsters across Leicestershire, Rutland, and some extended parts of the East Midlands in a variety of ways, including providing holidays and short breaks, funding towards school trips, contributions towards mental health support, and essential items such as clothing, toiletries, school uniforms, and equipment. They also offer opportunities for children to fully participate in hobbies or sports.

This is the charity’s third Colour Dash, and 95 schools across Leicestershire and Rutland are taking part — that’s over 25,000 young people all doing the same thing at the same time for their local children’s charity. The charity provides us with all the paint and kit needed to run the event, as well as prizes for all children, therefore offering a fantastic experience for free. All they ask in return is your support in gaining sponsorship for your child, to support the brilliant work that this local charity does.

Children, staff and parents will run around a set course at school while being showered with coloured powder. This year, we’ve also been provided with a set of Super Soakers, adding even more fun to the event. The theme this year is Super Soaker Colour Dash.

The colour powder is not harmful to people or the environment; it is made from corn starch and dyed with food-grade colouring.

The charity visited us before Easter to hold a launch assembly, and hopefully your child came home excited about the event. Sponsorship forms will be coming home today. Please ask friends and family to sponsor your child using the form they bring home.

The QR code on the sponsorship form can be scanned to donate online via Apple or Google Pay, but we still ask that you complete the sponsorship form with your child’s details.

Please return the sponsorship form — with your child’s name and class clearly marked — and any cash donations to school by 20th June to ensure they can claim their prizes.

This charity event is fully inclusive, and everyone will get to take part. The charity also provides minimum prizes for every child — no one is left out!

Children should come to school in old clothes. These clothes will get covered in powder colour. If your child wishes, they may wear swimming goggles or sunglasses to protect their

eyes — although these are optional. If you would like to run with your child please arrive at 2:15pm on the day (don’t forget to wear old clothes)

The charity aims to get prizes back to us as soon as possible. Please be patient, as they are a small team.

Thank you in advance for your support of this exciting event.
