EYFS & Year 1 Trip to Leicester Arboretum & Botanical Gardens

EYFS - Trip to Leicester Arboretum 

Dear Parents / Carers, 

We have an exciting opportunity to enrich our learning about Spring with a trip to Leicester Arboretum, on Friday 24th April 2026, within school time. 

During our time at Leicester Arboretum, EYFS will travel around the site learning about weather, changes to trees, plants and nest building. They will then take part in several different workshops including learning more about plants and nest building as well as taking part in a Spring dance.  

The children will need to come into school in their uniform and bring a packed lunch, which we will eat whilst we are there. If your child receives free school meals and you would like a basic packed lunch provided by the school, please contact the school office by Monday 13th April. We will be leaving school at 9:15am and returning from Leicester at 2:15pm to ensure that we are back at school for normal pick up. This trip will cost £11.95 per pupil which is available to pay in the trips section of your Arbor app by 27th February 2026.  

Leicester Botanical Garden activities - £336.00 

Coach Hire - £350 

Insurance, payments & other charges - £50.00 

In agreement with the governing board, we have made the decision to run trips the same as the last school year. We will still be offering the same trips, but will not be advertising our day trips to the children and instead will send letters directly to parents via Arbor. 

Trips will not be booked until all payments have been made and will not go ahead if all payments have not been received. Day trips will continue to be free for children on our Pupil Premium Register.

Year 1 Trip to Leicester Botanical Garden

We have an exciting opportunity to enrich our science units with a trip to Leicester Botanical Gardens, on Friday 24^th April 2026, within school time.

During our time at the botanical gardens, both we will take part in an immersive workshop. We will be taking part in the following activities:

• Planting cress seeds to take back to school
• Herbs – Matching plants to product and facts about them
•  Desert – Drawing cacti on paper and in sand
• Tropical Rainforest - Matching items to the plants they come from
• Woodland- leaf and bark rubbings
• Parts of Plants- Creating a natural tree sculpture and labelling the parts of the plan

The children will need to come into school dressed appropriately as we will be outside all day, whatever the weather. Please ensure that you child wears a school jumper or cardigan. The children will need to bring a packed lunch, which we will eat whilst we are there.
