Years 1 & 5 Trip to Tamworth Castle

Dear Parents / Carers,

We have an exciting opportunity to enrich our history units with a trip to Tamworth Castle on Friday 23^rd January 2026. The trip will take place within school time.

Whilst there, both year groups will take part in immersive workshops and will have the opportunity to tour the Castle. Year 1 will explore a selection of replica historical items before learning about the Castle as a defensive structure. Meanwhile, Year 5 will learn about the importance of Tamworth and Mercia during the Saxon period and will compare the differences and similarities between Saxons and Vikings.

The children will need to come to school in their uniform and bring a packed lunch. We will be leaving school at 9:15 am and departing from Tamworth Castle at 2:00 pm to ensure that we are back at school in time for normal pick up. This trip will cost £15.50 per pupil which is available to pay in the trips section of your Arbor app by Friday 9^th January 2026.

Tamworth Castle activities - £504

Coach  Hire - £420.00

Insurance, payments & other charges - £25.00

In agreement with the governing board, we have made the decision to run trips in a different way this school year. We will still be offering the same trips, but will not be advertising our day trips to the children and instead will send letters directly to parents via Arbor.

Trips will not be booked until all payments have been made and will not go ahead if all payments have not been received. Day trips will continue to be free for children on our Pupil Premium Register.
